Biography
Katarina Fagerstrom Levring is a Fine Art photographer. Art, and later photography, has been an interest since her childhood. During many years water media was her main focus until digital photography, and then the Lensbaby Composer entered her world. Today creative digital photography with the meaning of experimental, abstract, and close-up photography of flowers is her passion.
She uses different flowers as energizing sources of forms and colors through which she creates her unique art. She finds that abstracting the subject is an exciting way to create her vision. To quote Georgia O´Keeffe, ‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see’.
Her work is a result of sensitive and highly intuitive experiments with light and/or motion, with the creative tools she uses. Her favorite tools today are the Canon 5D Mark II digital camera with the Lensbaby Composer and selected optics and macro filters. No Photoshop.
Her art has recently been described as follows:
"...there is something deeply intense and critical in personal sensibilities and modalities of your art works. Amidst a plethora of art, you manage to say something very different."
She works mainly in her studio at home in Kungsbacka where she finds the solitude she needs to be able to enter the contemplative state of mind, her work - as well as her life with a Bipolar 1 Disorder - relies upon.
The artist is married to a "wonderful guy" who supports her career as well as her struggles with her Bipolar 1 Disorder.
